The WILD Advisory Group comprises of a mix of external representatives to engage with leaders in the STEM sector. This body will provide the perspective of key stakeholder groups and provide advice and guidance to the Project Team.
Professor Darren Kelly, Centre for Eye Research Australia (Chair)
Darren is the Associate Dean (Innovation and Enterprise, MDHS) at The University of Melbourne, the Director of Innovation and Enterprise at the Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA) and Director of Biomedical Research in the Department of Medicine, St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, where his research expertise lies in progressing pre-clinical novel interventions and developing experimental models of cardiovascular disease. Concurrent to his role with The University of Melbourne, Darren in the CEO and Managing Director of Occurx, Australia, bringing over 25 years of management and research expertise in the life sciences and biotech sector.
Dr Amanda Caples, Victorian Government
Dr Amanda Caples BSc Hons PhD GAICD is Victoria’s Lead Scientist. Amanda has broad experience in technology commercialisation, public policy development and governance of public and private entities. Amanda joined the Victorian public service in 2002 as the inaugural Director of Biotechnology and was subsequently appointed as the Executive Director Science and Technology to drive the state’s science agenda. In these roles, Amanda has led the development of industry sector strategy plans, delivered research-led health initiatives, regulatory and legislative scientific reforms and established international alliances.
Dr Chris Nave, Brandon Capital Partners
Chris is a founding partner of Brandon Capital Partners and Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Research Commercialisation Fund. Chris previously was Director of Commercialisation at the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute, Melbourne, Australia. Prior to this, Chris was the Manager of the Biotechnology Team at Melbourne Ventures, the commercialisation company of the University of Melbourne and an Investment Manager for, and on the investment committee of, Uniseed Pty Ltd, a $60 million pre-seed fund. Past directorships have seen Chris involved directly in the management, fundraising, and successful spinouts of various companies in the life sciences industry.
Marilyn Jones, Marilyn Careers
Marilyn Jones is an Executive Recruiter and Scientist experienced in resourcing staff for companies and assisting individuals with their careers. Working for both niche and multinational recruitment organisations Marilyn has worked across multiple sectors
in many industry and business sectors both in Australia and the UK. Marilyn’s focus in starting her company was to look after the individual. This has now developed into an extensive program working with people in many industries to assist them in their career aspirations and job search.
